HIAWATHA MHP v DEVELOPERS
Recently Hiawatha MHP in Kelowna, with the assistance of council, have negotiated with the developer of the property that tenants will receive fair assessed value for their homes and/or the developer will provide low cost rental units for those unable to move or purchase elsewhere.
WHITEWATER MHP TENANTS' ASSOCIATION
On October 24, 2009 a number of residents of the Whitewater MHP met and formed an Interim Executive for their new Whitewater M.H.P. Tenants' Association. This can only be seen as another success story in the making.
TRADEWINDS PARK HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION
In September the Tradewinds Estates MHP in Oliver successfully formed an Association in their park. It is still going through growing pains but it will certainly be a benefit to the tenants.
TOWN OF OSOYOOS REDEVELOPMENT POLICY
On July 6, 2009 the Town of Osoyoos successfully passed an amendment to their Land Use Procedures (LUP) Bylaw by adding the following to Part 8
Residential Tenant Protection From Redevelopment: "Monetary compensation for the loss of both a mobile home and its site if the
mobile home cannot be relocated, or for only the site if the mobile home can be relocated, taking assessment or market appraisal value into consideration.
